Celebrating on the eve of Molly's 3rd Birthday!
We have been enjoying beautiful weather and amazing light displays this weekend as we prepared to celebrate Molly's 3rd birthday. She loves the experience of walking through the above display, so we visited this infamous spot for the third time this season. It truly is amazing and it seems like things are added each time we've walked through. Words and pictures cannot capture the feeling of walking through so many memories from Christmas through the years.
Emma turned 6 earlier this fall, and I thought of A.A. Milne. Now that Molly is turning 3, I actually took time to re-visit the poem. It seems fitting. I of course interpreted "When I was three, I was hardly me." as if she really wasn't herself yet. Perhaps the little Molly Monster that shows up when she's hungry, tired or feeling particularly demanding or independent "I do it myself!" - basically the terrible twos - was not going to be with us too much longer, and that the funny, silly, laughing Molly that we love will be more present going forward.
Emma is six and is certainly clever as clever, and don't we all wish we could be six forever? Well, maybe not forever...we are both enjoying egg nog, however, hers is the six-year old version, and mine is not.
Now We Are Six
Author: A.A. Milne
When I was one,
I had just begun.
When I was two,
I was nearly new.
When I was three,
I was hardly me.
When I was four,
I was not much more.
When I was five,
I was just alive.
But now I am six,
I'm as clever as clever.
So I think I'll be six
now and forever.
I had just begun.
When I was two,
I was nearly new.
When I was three,
I was hardly me.
When I was four,
I was not much more.
When I was five,
I was just alive.
But now I am six,
I'm as clever as clever.
So I think I'll be six
now and forever.
